Our History
After leaving school in 1965, Bryan & twin Brother Alan started their working life for Simpkin's Greengrocers based in Newcastle's Grainger Market. After a while Bryan left the Grainger Market taking up a position working for Cliff Little on the infamous Newcastle's Bigg Market. Cliff mentored Bryan showing him the benefits of buying and selling only the best fresh produce available, over the years of work together became a friendship that would last a lifetime.
In 1977 Bryan was offered the chance to take a small stall of his own further down the Bigg Market so on a cold morning in March, with the help of elder brother Keith this time our story really began. Keeping up the ethos of only selling the freshest and best seasonal produce Bryan managed to build a reputation for quality, honesty and value.
In 1993 came Bryan's return to & expansion into the Grainger Market, taking on Unit 165, a small corner unit without much foot traffic Bryan and the team quickly became trusted traders with Grainger Market shoppers.
2004 saw us move to our current home of Unit 117/164, a larger unit that we have altered, expanded and made our own.
Over the years we have adapted our business to now include a delivery services offered to business & residents alike and growing to a leading supply to many bars, restaurants, office blocks and schools in the North East.

Our Ethos is simple...act open and honestly, supply the best and only the best fresh produce available.
This is something that was taught to Bryan back in the early 1970's and something he has insisted upon ever since.

As well as our retail store based in the Grainger Market we are also proud to supply some of Newcastle's best hospitality venues. We work closely with many independent Bars & Restaurant/Kitchens right across the North East as well as offering account facilities to some of the larger chains with all manner of catering supplies.
We don't just limit ourselves there either, we are experienced market leaders in the Fruit for Office schemes, helping employers keep their staff healthy and happy in their workplace.
We are able to supply all manner of business from small deli counters to schools, nurseries and care homes.

The best fruit and vegetables in the Grainger market.
Always a friendly smile and great service from Bryan and the team. Fantastic range of fruit and vegetables, and all great quality and price. Yes there might be cheaper stalls in the Grainger market but you don't get the same quality, variety or taste.
When in season, try the Joya apples - crisp, sweet and better than a braeburn.

The best quality fruit and veg ever! The produce is such good quality, lasts ages in the fridge and all tastes amazing. Shopping here has significantly reduced our food waste and we’re always trying new recommended products. The service is excellent and true value for money despite the exceptional quality. Neil and the team support us bringing our own produce bags and reusing them, they offer paper packaging on the go, so there’s no single use plastic in my shopping! Thanks for the continued great service x

Q:Can I have a set box but make some changes?
A:Yes you can but you need to call us with your order number once its placed so we can make the adjustments.
Q: If I order after 3pm when will I expect my delivery to arrive?
A: Orders received before 3pm will be dispatched the next day, Orders placed after 3pm will go onto the following days pile (e.g. 3.30pm Monday will be delivered Wednesday)
